To keep fast on this day, starting from the night of Dashami, you keep a fast till the morning of Dwadashi. Worship is done to keep the fast. So for this, first you have to worship in the morning after bathing, etc. For worship, Lord Vishnu and Krishna are worshiped with incense, lamp, and basil. After Pooja, start your fast. Although there are many stories of Mokshada Ekadashi which are recited, but here we tell you about the most popular story. So the story is as follows-
In a city called Champa, the people lived very happily. In this city, King Vaikhanas used to rule who were the knowledgeers of the four Vedas. He was very religious. Once the king dreamed that his father was burning in hellfire. The king told his wife about the dream. The wife told the king to get advice from the gurus.
The Baikhanas went to the ashram and sat there near the gurus absorbed in penance. On seeing the king, the mountain monk (Parvat Muni) asked the reason for his arrival. The king told him about his dream with a very sad heart. On this, the mountain monk (Parvat Muni) said to the king – ‘Your father is getting the fruits of his deeds. They tortured your mother. That is why he became a partaker of sin and is now suffering hell.

On this, the sage advised him to observe Mokshada Ekadashi fast. The king fasted and offered the virtue of the fast to his father. Due to the effect of the fast, the king’s father got freedom from hell. Since then, there is a provision for fasting on Mokshada Ekadashi.
